Apparently cell phone glass isn't made to survive falls face down onto concrete! I say that's poor workmanship!

It's a company phone, too soon to upgrade and if I don't pay to fix or replace it, I get a crappy phone for the next 18 months. So I'm trolling for ideas.
No one locally can repair the glass only on a Blackberry Torch for less than $225 but Newegg prices for the parts are much less. 15-75 depending. Local jerks. Any suggestions for a cheap place to ship or info to do it myself?
Thanks

Crappy, as in you use the cracked screen, or crappy as in you get a crappier replacement?
If you can order the parts for cheap, and are adventurous/handy, I'd say go for it. Quick google search revealed this video:

A crappier replacement - They would give me someone's 2 yr old torch (when they got an upgrade)...
All that is broken is the front glass - so all that really needs to be done is remove the broken glass on the front and glue new glass in... I've been warned that the broken glass can scratch / affect the LCD screen so it's better not to do it myself unless I'm familiar with the process (or not ham-fisted)...

Yeah, its not exactly a fun thing to do - I replaced the touchscreen on my daughter's Nintendo DS, and I don't think I would ever want to do that again. Takes a steady hand and lots of patience.
