Ok....FUBAR is getting into the home beer brewing gig. Helped a neighbor brew a 5 gallon batch, now going to borrow his equipment and get my own ingredients to brew my own batch. If I can get the wife to buy off on the smell of cooking it and the time if takes, I'll procure my own gear and become a home brewing legend!
Any selling gear, know of someone ? Seems like a complete starter kit of gear is around $170 new.
Tips, tricks, recipes ? Let's discuss and share. I'll probably start by buying the wort already prepared and adding ingredients, but am ready for some schooling.

BE CAREFUL!!!
Once you start you can't stop.
I remember when my parents used to brew our own. As soon as I get out of uni and I have the time I'm making my own wine, grapes are all ready, and I am itching to start. And now you've made me want to do some home brew as well.

"You boys runnin' moonshine?"
Sounds great Fubar, I've been interested ever since Judge talked about doing it waaaaay back in the old days. I don't drink as much as I used to, but it seems like it would come with a lot of pride of ownership when drinking. Keep this updated once you start if you have time, I'd love to see it and hear your reviews.

Came across this deal today and thought of this thread. It's a 2 year subscription to the Beer Connoisseur at a discounted price.

I get errors on the page. iPhone issue or maybe for Canadians only ?

Steal the Deal is a canadian site, so perhaps that is an issue. The deal isn't listed on the vendor's site for canadians, but if this interests you, here is the Beer Connoisseur's site:

A couple action shots of the first brew ... well, the cooking part of it anyway.

2nd Batch is in the fermenter .... Bought supplies so I could start kegging already .. bottling is convenient for sharing, etc .. but too many bottles for my taste scattered around to have enough for a few batches. Got two weeks til I need to commit to it and use it, or save a little and go back to bottling.
Batch #1 Results (Irish Red) : Fantastic !! Doesn't taste like it, but can pack a punch.
Batch #2 Winter Porter: very dark in color, a little chocolatey fruity finish thus far .. but it has a couple weeks to fully develop the taste and aroma yet. Only 2 ounces of Cascade hops this time, but promises a healthy alcohol by volume.

Kegged the Winter Porter last night. Next up is something for the wife .. a raspberry hefeweizen. Taste testing to follow on the Porter Saturday Night.
