The fourth Super Mario Marathon to raise money for Child's Play Charity is going to begin at 11am today. If you have not heard of the Mario Marathon before it is group of friends from Indiana that plays through Mario games to achieve predetermined goals, a level checklist if you will. They will keep playing Mario games until they complete all of the goals unlocked and the next donation amount has yet to be reached. The way to "unlock" a new goal is to raise enough money for Child's Play. Each level goal has a %1 increase than the previous goal, where the first goal is a whopping $0.50. As of this initial post they have raised over $12,700 and it is still 7 hours away from starting. Expect this number to near, if not surpass the $100,000 mark this year. The past three marathons in 2008, 2009 and 2010 have reached $11,767, $29,477 and $82,082 respectively.

So go ahead watch them and if you are feeling generous you can donate to Child's Play.

If you are worried that some of the money you donate will go to the group playing Mario games, fear not, all donations go directly to Child's Play.

Just a quick update on the Mario Marathon, they have just surpassed the $22,000 mark which means they have to complete 612 out of 786 Mario levels. So far they are only two hours into this adventure and they are a quarter of the way to matching last year's total. Remember you can donate on the Mario Marathon site and all donations go directly to Child's Play. If you have not heard of Child's Play they are "a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 60 hospitals worldwide." Since the charity started in 2003 they have raised over $7 million in donations of toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in children’s hospitals across North America and the world have been collected. So help out and give to a great cause!

And look at that, they have already surpassed the $40,000 mark in just 24 hours. This means they have unlocked 674 goals (as of this posting) out of 786. So far they have completed 163 of these goals. Go watch them and donate some money to help the children through Child's Play Charity

Along with Tien's contribution, the Mario Marathon so far has raised over $55,000. This means they have unlocked 704 goals to complete out of the 786 goals possible. So far the Mario Marathon has completed 391 goals of the unlocked goals.

So be a nice and donate at least a dollar to a great cause!

And with just a few hours (if not sooner) left, the Super Mario Marathon has raised over 101,000 US dollars for Child's Play. So if you have not yet donated, go help them and Child's Play help out the children.
