Anyone ever use the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act)?

Any of you guys ever use the FOIA to request information? I'm interested in the tax returns of a couple nonprofits but I've never requested anything and don't know what to expect during the process.

Thanks AC, looks like I can get IRS documents and that included form letter is very helpful. Hopefully the fees aren't too high.
