The fourth
Super Mario Marathon to raise money for
Child's Play Charity is going to begin at 11am today. If you have not heard of the Mario Marathon before it is group of friends from Indiana that plays through Mario games to achieve predetermined goals, a
level checklist if you will. They will keep playing Mario games until they complete all of the goals unlocked and the next donation amount has yet to be reached. The way to "unlock" a new goal is to raise enough money for Child's Play. Each level goal has a %1 increase than the previous goal, where the first goal is a whopping $0.50. As of this initial post they have raised over $12,700 and it is still 7 hours away from starting. Expect this number to near, if not surpass the $100,000 mark this year. The past three marathons in 2008, 2009 and 2010 have reached
$11,767,
$29,477 and
$82,082 respectively.
So go ahead
watch them and if you are feeling generous you can donate to
Child's Play.
If you are worried that some of the money you donate will go to the group playing Mario games, fear not, all donations go directly to Child's Play.
