Yeah sorry about that. After the update I went in search of a NPC village. And as you can see I apparently found the biggest ocean ever spawned in Minecraft. So do whatever you have to do cutting wise. lol.

Okay, map pruned. Here's the new isometric map. I cut out a lot of the left of the map too, so if you have stuff there, I can edit it back in. I saved a backup.

Also, here's an overhead map, followed by an overhead map of the current caves. You'll notice the newer cave system stuff in the upper right, generated after 1.8 came out.

So that's what that hideous giant thing is. I mean, uh... good job. Do you have a zoning permit for that?

Thanks to Al for the link to this:

And also, I totally agree with that chubby little girl. In this bonus video, she says the best stuff and the other kids don't even know how much smarter she is than they are:

He tried to use eminent domain to get rid of my Ice Tower, but instead he decided to build around it.

Chu's Choo-Choo Railways' line through the area still needs to be rebuilt though.

I think the zambies are coming on a new map, when we start a new survival map. Unless everyone just wants me to turn on monsters on the current map.

Survival server is up! It's the same IP, different port.

76.166.129.128:25566

Note the 25566, whereas the old server, which is still running, is 25565 (default MC port).

This is a survival server! The default spawn biome is snow, and creepers are already everywhere! I need light.

Oh btw, there are no ops on this server, not even me. Of course, I have access to the server console, but it's survival! It's more fun if you don't spawn stuff for yourself. Hope to venture out with you soon!

Edit: changed server IP

Wow has this game changed. I'll probably be in the survival server a good portion of today.

And you weren't kidding about the creepers gel.

Quick update: Looks like my internet is down at home or something. Can't access the servers nor my computer. Will check on it tonight. I wonder if the sprinklers went off...

- Public Service Announcement -

By the way, animals don't respawn anymore in the more recent versions of Minecraft. This means they'll randomly spawn when a chunk is newly created (unexplored land), but if you kill all the pigs in an area, it will never naturally have more pigs. Try to keep this in mind and breed animals. Don't make me build Noah's Ark and save 2 of each animal for breeding!

I know cow steaks are tasty and filling, but you know what else cows are good for? Infinite milk! Combine that with the eggs my chickens have been laying (LOTS of eggs), some sugar from my sugar farm, and you've got yourself a lot of cakes to eat. I'm not lying about the cake.

The servers are back up. The power went out and my back up batteries only last so long. It must have gone out for over an hour at least. Never happened here before.

REALTIME SURVIVAL MAP*

Cool stuff:
- uses Google maps tech to render and display
- the coordinates on the map match the ones in game
- North is to the upper left (I can't rotate the render but most of our stuff faces north and east :S)
- if you want to link someone to a specific spot, e.g. here is Moniker's new desert home, you can do so at any time since the URL changes as you move around and zoom!

* not really realtime, but updated often, maybe automated if Moniker can make me a script

:boohoo: I don't always fall into lava; but when I do, I'm carrying diamonds, a ton of ore, and 22 levels of experience. :boohoo:

Good to hear it wasn't something more serious.

Thanks, Earl! I have it set to update automatically every day at 5am (render is pretty fast, but online sync takes around 20-60 minutes depending on what changed). Everyone should be able to use the same link and just watch the world expand!

My new red mushroomier home, which you still can't see the front of:

Nice stuff, everyone! Take a peek at what everyone's been doing (on the surface level)

Re: Minecraft

Man, I see we're not immune from chunk discontinuities in 1.2 :(. But glad to see the map is staying somewhat small, no Magellan wannabes yet. I also want to torch up the central area so it's not as snowy. Make some nice pasture and farmland (and keep the monsters at bay).

Re: Minecraft

Can we have a "No Cobblestone Cubes" rule? I'm talking about boring structures like this:

Re: Minecraft

Fri Mar 09, 2012 2:48 pm

Haha. She said last night that she was just building a home out of cobblestone for now since she wanted to have her own safe home. She mentioned replacing the cobblestone later, with something nicer. However, I think that's a) unlikely due to how large it is and how much it's hovering in the air, and b) even if she does replace it with fancy brick, it'll still be a big cube made up of fancy brick.

Also, although I often joke about needing a "zoning permit," There is a gameplay reason for not building stuff above other people's stuff on land. A fair amount of stuff in the game requires a clean line of sight to the sky. If there is any obstruction, that can change crop growing speed, light levels (massive shadows), and the fact that we built things outside so we would be outside, not under someone else's roof/floor.

Let's be courteous about that! (and yes I built that red mushroom on your tower as a joke, Earl. Feel free to destroy it, or leave it as a monument to my greatness.

I'm going to incorporate it into the build just to counter-troll you. It actually gave me a cool idea.

Nice! I hope the inside is going to be inhabitable office space. I need somewhere to plot my scheme to take over the world.

Also, if you don't yet have a stop on Moniker's NetherNetwork™, you're not hip.
