Just like many topics in the world there are no right answers and no wrong answers (well there are wrong answers like the Halo theme song) when it comes to videogame music. The majority of videogames have had music, with Pong having the first noise and Space Invaders being first in background music, but I was wondering what is the greatest or best (your choice) song to be heard from a videogame. I'm going to think about if this is my favorite videogame piece of music, but as a starting piece I am sure no one will say this is the worst song of videogame history: |

I always enjoyed the moodiness of the background music in Privateer. Various cracked C64 games used to have pretty cool entry music during the 'cracked by' marquees too. Picking one game is pretty hard though. GTA3 + have always been well done I think. Should be a cool thread here Al Fire. I can't see your embed from work so I can't comment on it yet. |

In a week or so I'll post the song in mind and ask everyone why this song is not even considered, by the RH community, to be the greatest song in video game history. Chronno I agree with you bro but there is one that comes in before those 2 bro, and its ironic as well lol. Chrono Trigger for the SNES which is also the 2nd best RPG ever done followed by FFVII TU LO SABES!!! I absolutely love final fantasy music, more specifically, the stuff composed by Nobuo Uematsu. I have a hard time picking a favorite, though it's probably between the opening from Final Fantasy VIII - 'Liberi Fatali' (my favorite game in the series), and Aerith's Theme (the fully orchestrated one). Liberi Fatali Aerith's Theme (Orchestrated) My Wife can't listen to that without crying  My other favorites are probably the themes from Metroid and Zelda Zelda Theme Metroid Theme |

In my opinion Donkey Kong Country 2 has one of the greatest soundtracks of all time and ocremix.org has released an amazing album remixing the music in the game into many, many different styles. You can download the entire album for free here: http://dkc2.ocremix.org/ An fyi about this album it has taken the ocremix community 2 and a half years! to complete this album so hopefully that will indicate how amazing this is. |
